Glider chair vs. Regular chair and Ottoman?
I am wanting a large stuffed chair and ottoman that glides, but they all seem to cost 600 or more for the set. I have all black baby furniture and none of the traditional glider rockers match. Would it be a bad Idea to put a regular stuffed chair and ottoman in the nursery (found one that matches the nursery at target for less than 300) or will I regret not having the rocking/gliding chair. Or is it really just having a nice chair that matters. Or would a recliner that rocks be the way to go? I have a recliner and a slip cover for 60 dollars would be all I'd need to match it to the room. Advice from the experts.

My mother in law has a stuffed black glider and ottomon that reclines and everything....SOOOOOOO COMFY!!!!!! She said she gothers from K-Mart and only paid abotu $100....check them out...just make sure whatever you do go with rocks. I had a glider with my first and i have a recliner with my second. The recliner is almost more comfy but i have to use pillows to nurse her. You could always just get a cheap glider/rocker adn paint it if you want....thats an idea!!!! Good luck
A glider chair is easier to get out of than a rocking chair. Plus, the glider chair is gentler for baby.

This is the chair the previous poster is talking about. If its at all hot where you live in your house I wouldn't use this one. It's vinyl but actually feels even cheaper. Some babies like the rocking but most just want to cuddle so as long as your comfy than they are. So a big comfy chair would be good too. Some of those gliders just don't have a long life. I love the old wooden rocking chair that my mother gave me that she got 30 years ago when she was pregnant with me. Me and my son rocked in that. We just put pillows under my arms. My sister in law that used it before me said it was even more comfy than the glider she just bought.
I have two children honey and i say keep the recliner and the slip cover. thats a good find if you already have the chair, save your self some money for other things, and plus when the baby gets older you can say momma or daddy made this chair for you(brownie points)
I'd slipcover the chair you have. I have a glider and ottoman, and it's nice, but not nicer than a good cozy recliner.

Do make a washable slipcover so you can take it off and wash it when it gets messy.
I say get something that moves. I got a cheap glider and if I'd known just how much I'd be using it, I probably would have dropped the big chunk of change on a better one. If you can find a recliner that rocks (like those old La-Z-Boys) and throw a slip cover on it, I'd go with that. How cushy! :)

My biggest complaint about my cheapy is that the seat lost a lot of its form and I had to put a pillow underneath it so that my butt didn't hurt! (And I'm a small gal, too! It was just that cruddy of a cushion)
I find it easier to nurse in my glider than in my recliner. I need pillows to help support me in the recliner. I got my glider at toys r us for about 125 dollars.
