Rockers vs Gliders...?
Hi!

I'm starting to put my little ones nursery together and I am trying to decide between a traditional rocking chair and a glider. The furniture is a lighter cherry color and the colors of the bedding are pink, orange, and white. It really doesn't matter to me which. I would like just to have something that will lull her to sleep and something that we can both enjoy. Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

I have a rocker but my cousin has a glider and I love it! I wish I would have bought a glider instead. Both will work just fine but there's something about the glider that seems so much better
A glider will be much more comfortable for you!
Rockers ALWAYS end up creaking! Go for a glider, they quiet and the motion is lovely.
Not sure but I think that the gliders make be more safe. Personally I think they are more comfortable, and since I'm a penny pincher I found a glider for about $100 and chose not to get an ottoman to save money. Well, now I kind of wish I had gotten the ottoman! The ones that glide are more expensive but probably very comfortable, but you may be able to use just a regular stationary one, if you like it.
Before my baby was born I was really stressed about getting his room together. It turned out that he slept with us in a special co-sleeping thing until he outgrew it around 4 months. It also turned out that I used my glider about 4 times. That's 4 feedings. I breastfed. The boppy pillow worked just fine and I really didn't require a seperate piece of furniture for rocking him. I rocked him all by myself in the sitting position on the sofa with the boppy pillow. Time flew by and the next thing you'll know is that you "need" a lot less than you think pre-baby! One of my best inventions for the (breast) feeding process is strapping a remote-controlled switch to my wrist with a hair-band so I could turn off the nightstand light without waking/disturbing him/us, after acheiving that perfect snuggle position. You can pick one up at any drugstore or hardware store. Wait to see if you really want a chair. My 3 sisters didn't use one with their babies, and I gave my chair away when my baby was 5 months old.
I WAY prefer a glider but only if I have the matching ottoman. Otherwise, a rocker is a better choice. Make sure the rocker is low enough that it supports your legs and your feet are on the floor. For a glider, if you or your husband are more than 200 pounds, consider getting a heavier duty rocker glider/ottoman. It is more likely to last.
