Did you find a rocking chair usefulwith your newborn?
I am purchasing our nursery furniture and have always loved the thought of rocking little bub to sleep in the chair. Did you find it beneficial having a rocking chair?

Yes, most definitely. My son is 15 months old now and I still rock him to sleep in it sometimes. When he was born, there were a few nights I even slept in the chair holding him.
I had a rocking chair with each of my daughters and it did come in handy. I would use it to feed them at night and sometimes rock them to sleep. They seemed to enjoy it.
Yes. Get one that is very comfy for you. You'll be spending a lot of time in it.
Yes but get a swing too.The single greatest invention ever.
I love it! He loves it too, and on a crappy night it does wonders.
I loved using the rocking chair to rock the baby to sleep with both of my kids. I only went with the basics for the baby rooms but having a rocking chair was a nice splurge. Pick the one that has pockets for books - these will come in handy.
no and yes. it's nice to have somewhere to sit in the nursery but i never rocked my baby to sleep. i just felt like if he got use to that it would make it harder for me to break the cycle later. so i let the swing rock him. but i do feed him his bottles there sometimes. i received one for a baby shower present it's a glider with the ottoman but i really really wish it reclined
yes we have one and we've used it alot.. but, let me give you some advice, while it's nice to sit and rock them to sleep every now and then, once we got started doing it, that was the only way that he would go to sleep and it took us forever to get him to where he could be laid down in his crib and go to sleep on his own. actually, we weren't even the ones who did it. i had to leave him with my parents for a couple of days when he was almost a yr old, and my mom actually got him to doing it.. if i were you, i wouldn't make it an every night thing...
Absolutely! A rocking chair works wonders! Also get a swing. It is the best invention a Mum could ever ask for!
i ve always wanted one,but i was unable to get one by the time i got my baby.ofcourse it will be alot easier rocking your baby without much effort, because i couldnt get the chair i have to rock by myself,hehe....not an easy job.you will love it if you buy it.imagine cuddling your baby and rocking to the sound of soft music in good smelling candle light.
definitely get a glider with the foot rest. you will be glad you have it...especially in the baby's room.
Yes. The rocking motion is familiar to them from when they were in you and you walked around. swings are helpful too, but not as much as rocking chairs because the babies also like to hear your body noises like your heartbeat and stomach gurgling.
most deffinatly , i found a rocking chair most usefull rocking my little Aaliyah to bed at night and its also very relaxing and calming for yourself and your little bub .
no, it was easier to sit in a cushy chair and bounce my arms. I kept sliding off my rocker or the rocker rocked its way to the wall and i kept having to move it to the middle of the room.

And the glider rockers don't give you the "rocking" motion that puts a baby to sleep. They're too smooth, your better off walking around with your baby in your arms. You can get a bassinet that you can rock side to side, those are helpful.

good luck and congratulations!
my grandma, my daughters great grandmother started rocking my daughter at 6 weeks every night for three weeks and now my daughter has to be rocked before bed lol so yes it has helped whenever she gets fussy too
I personally didn't. We had one for the nursery and I ended up selling it. Iprefered a big comfy chair I could sit in and curl up in with my lil guy. That was just my personal preference.
Very useful and just as useful with my 2 year old, babies love rocking, plus it is soothing to mommy when she's having a rough night. Get a nice glider rocker with ottoman. My second one was collicky and i found it much easier to actually stay in the room with her so we wouldn't disturb my husband and son sleeping and that rocking chair was a life saver! You won't be sorry. Good Luck with baby
we got a glider recliner and loved it. Not only does it rock, but you can put the foot rest up and recline with baby if s/he falls asleep. We used it a lot to snooze with out toddler too since sometimes that was the only way he'd take a nap.
We don't have a rocking chair in our daughters room but we have a rocking recliner in our living room. That chair has been a life saver because the rocking motion sooths my baby and I can get off my feet. It's a great thing to have.
We are still rocking our 23-month-old! She loves to sit in the chair by herself (it's a stationary glider, it doesn't tip and can't smash little fingers) and look at books as well. We used the first one so much we're getting another for the new baby's room. Out of all the things we had during the first year, I think the glider probably got used the most!
ABSOLUTELY! Couldn't have done the late night feedings or rocking to soothe my son as an infant without it. It's soon being moved into the nursery we're setting up for our coming baby in a few months. It's one piece of furniture in the nursery that you just won't want to be without.
oh my gosh are you kidding me. I wouldn't have survivied without it when my baby was just born. it was the ONLY thing that made her stop crying and go to sleep.
